What Is Cystitis?
Cystitis refers to inflammation of the bladder, often resulting in a range of uncomfortable symptoms, including:
- A frequent and urgent need to urinate
- Pain or a burning sensation during urination
- Pressure or discomfort in the lower abdomen
- Cloudy or strong-smelling urine
While cystitis is commonly linked to urinary tract infections (UTIs), it can also be triggered by other factors, such as:
- Hormonal changes, particularly during menopause
- Irritation from hygiene products or sexual activity
- Weakened pelvic floor muscles
- Stress or other underlying medical conditions
For some women, these symptoms can become chronic or recurrent, significantly impacting their quality of life.
