What is non-surgical rhinoplasty?
Non-surgical rhinoplasty is a cosmetic procedure in which dermal fillers are injected into the nose to contour and shape it. The procedure is quick and cost-effective, with no surgical cutting involved. The results are semi-permanent and last from around 4 months to 3 years. The procedure is also known as liquid rhinoplasty.
Do I need non-surgical rhinoplasty?
The treatment is ideal if you wish to reshape your nose without removing any tissue. It can smooth bumps on the nose, lift its tip and raise the bridge – in short, improve the overall symmetry of your nose. It is also perfect for those planning surgical rhinoplasty (a permanent change) who want to preview the results before going ahead, and for those who have already had a surgical rhinoplasty and now desire minor changes.
What to expect from your appointment
A careful and thorough assessment of your nose will be done. The symmetry of the nose, the bridge and the tip will be analysed before deciding on the different areas where the filler will be injected. Some tips to make the most of the procedure:
The procedure
You’ll lie down with your face tilted up while a topical anaesthetic is applied to the nose and surrounding areas, so you won’t feel pain during the procedure. Once it takes effect, a gel-like filler is placed beneath the skin in various areas of the nose, including the bridge, where it settles into the deeper layers and holds its shape. The entire procedure lasts 15 to 45 minutes.
Some numbness afterwards is completely normal, as is mild swelling or redness for a day or two. For a speedy recovery: avoid vigorous exercise, don’t touch or massage the injection sites for 24 hours, apply ice packs to reduce swelling, sleep with your head elevated, and stay out of direct sunlight.
