Anti-Wrinkle Injections, Profhilo and a Blue Peel Radiance: Dr Yasmin Tayeb's Pre-Event Glow Plan

Some visits to the clinic are about a slow, steady plan over months. Others have a date circled on the calendar. This one had both. A regular patient came in ahead of her hen party in Ibiza, wanting to look fresh, rested and lit from within for the photos, without anything that screamed "I've had work done".

What followed was a considered combination rather than a single treatment. In this video, Dr Yasmin Tayeb, doctor and founder of Wellface, walks through the appointment: anti-wrinkle injections to soften the lines around the eyes and forehead, a little muscle-relaxing work along the jaw to slim and define the lower face, Profhilo to deepen hydration and lift, and a Blue Peel Radiance to finish with a genuine glow. Everything starts with the consultation

Before any numbing cream or needles, the appointment began where every treatment at Wellface begins: a conversation. It sounds obvious, but it is the part that most determines whether someone walks out happy. Dr Yasmin Tayeb and the patient need to be aligned on what she was actually trying to achieve, and which treatments could realistically get her there.

In this case the brief was clear. She wanted to contour the lower half of her face, freshen up the skin, and bring back a healthy glow before a big weekend away. From there, Dr Tayeb mapped out the options and explained what each one would and wouldn't do. Anti-wrinkle injections address movement lines. Muscle relaxant in the jaw softens a heavy or square lower face. Profhilo works on skin quality and hydration from within. A peel resurfaces the very top layer for immediate radiance. None of them is interchangeable, which is exactly why a good consultation matters.

A consultation is also where Dr Tayeb checks that a treatment is suitable at all. Medical history, medications, allergies, skin type and any recent sun exposure all feed into the plan. Anti-wrinkle injections for the upper face

Anti-wrinkle injections use a purified form of botulinum toxin to temporarily relax specific muscles. When a muscle can't contract as forcefully, the skin over it stops creasing in the same way, and the lines that come from repeated movement soften. It doesn't freeze the whole face, and done well it shouldn't. The aim is a rested version of you, not a blank one.

Forehead, frown lines and crow's feet

Three areas were treated in the upper face. The frontalis is the large muscle that lifts the brows and creates the horizontal lines across the forehead. The glabella sits between the brows and is responsible for the vertical "eleven" frown lines that can make people look cross or tired even when they aren't. The crow's feet are the fine lines that fan out from the corners of the eyes when you smile or squint.

Treating these together tends to give a balanced result, because the muscles of the upper face work as a group. A skilled injector will dose each area carefully and think about how they interact, so the brows still move naturally and the expression stays yours. The injections themselves take only a few minutes and feel like small, quick pinches. Results are not instant. Most people start to notice a change from around day three to five, with the full effect settling by around two weeks, and it typically lasts three to four months before movement gradually returns.

Softening the jawline with masseter treatment

The same muscle-relaxing principle can be used lower down, in the masseter. This is the strong chewing muscle at the angle of the jaw, and in some people it is naturally bulky, which can make the lower face look wider, squarer or heavier. It can also be overactive in those who clench or grind their teeth.

Relaxing the masseter with anti-wrinkle injections gradually reduces its bulk, which softens and slims the jawline over the following weeks. For this patient, who had a little heaviness in the lower third of her face, it was a way to bring more definition and a slightly more tapered, feminine shape without any surgery or filler. There's often a welcome side benefit too: people who clench or grind frequently report less tension, less jaw ache and fewer tension headaches once the muscle settles. Because the muscle is larger than those in the upper face, changes here take a little longer to appear and tend to last a little longer as well.

Profhilo for hydration and glow

By the time the upper face and jaw were done, the numbing cream had taken effect and it was back to the Profhilo. This is where the "glow from within" part of the plan really comes from.

Profhilo is often lumped in with dermal fillers because it is injected and it is made from hyaluronic acid, but it behaves very differently. A traditional filler adds structure and volume in a specific spot. Profhilo does not add volume. It is a highly concentrated, ultra-pure form of hyaluronic acid that spreads through the skin and acts as a bioremodelling treatment, stimulating the skin's own production of collagen and elastin while drawing in and holding water. The result is skin that feels firmer, more hydrated and more elastic, with a lit-from-within quality that flat, dehydrated skin loses over time.

It is delivered using the BAP technique, short for Bio Aesthetic Points. Rather than lots of tiny injections, the product is placed at five carefully chosen points on each side of the face. These points are selected because they allow the Profhilo to diffuse evenly across the cheeks, jawline and chin, and because they sit safely away from major vessels and nerves. Fewer injections means less discomfort and a quicker treatment. It does sting a little as it goes in, which is why you'll sometimes see a patient wince or squint during this part, but the numbing cream takes the edge off and each side is done in moments.

For the best results, Profhilo is usually given as a course of two sessions spaced about four weeks apart, with maintenance every six months or so. You may see and feel some improvement early, but the deeper collagen-stimulating effects build over the weeks that follow. Small raised bumps at the injection points are normal on the day and generally settle within a day or two.

The Blue Peel Radiance finish

The final step was a Blue Peel Radiance, and it's the piece that delivers that immediate, event-ready glow. This is a superficial, salicylic-acid-based peel designed to lift away the dull, dead layer sitting on the surface of the skin. That build-up is often what makes a complexion look tired and flat, so removing it reveals the fresher, brighter skin underneath.

It does more than brighten, though. The peel has a calming, anti-inflammatory effect, which makes it a good choice for skin that is prone to breakouts or a bit congested. It refines texture, evens out tone and gives makeup a smoother base to sit on. Because it is a gentle, surface-level peel, it doesn't come with the significant downtime of a deeper resurfacing treatment. Skin may look a little pink immediately afterwards and feel slightly tight, and over the next few days there can be some light flaking as the surface renews. Most people carry on with their day quite happily.

Layering a peel on top of injectables like this, at the end of the appointment, gives a lovely all-round result: relaxed movement lines, a more defined jaw, deeply hydrated skin and a polished surface glow, all timed for a special occasion.

Timing your treatments before an event

If you're planning around a wedding, a hen party, a holiday or a big birthday, timing is everything, and it's worth building in a comfortable buffer rather than leaving things to the last week.

Anti-wrinkle injections need around two weeks to fully settle, so ideally you'd have them at least a fortnight before, and often it's wise to have them earlier if you've never been treated before, in case a small top-up is needed. Profhilo works best as a two-session course, so starting six to eight weeks ahead lets both sessions land before the date. A Blue Peel Radiance is the most flexible of the group and can be done closer to the day, though allowing a week or so means any flaking has fully passed and your skin looks its best. The safest approach is simply to book a consultation early, so Dr Tayeb can sequence everything sensibly around your calendar.

Common questions about this kind of combination treatment

Can I really have all of these treatments in one appointment?

Often, yes, and it can be very efficient to combine them. The order matters, which is why numbing cream for the Profhilo goes on first while the anti-wrinkle injections are carried out, and why the peel is left until last. Will anti-wrinkle injections make my face look frozen?

Is Profhilo the same as filler?
