Inside Our Esher Launch: A Skin Workout Circuit for Firmer, Brighter Skin
There are days that feel like the start of something, and the opening of Wellface at Fit Partnership in Esher was one of them. The team arrived at seven in the morning, treatment rooms were ready by eight, and the first patients were in the chair not long after. By the time the doors properly opened, the place had the buzz of a busy gym on a Saturday, except the workout on offer was for the skin.
We called it a skin workout circuit for a reason. Instead of one treatment doing all the heavy lifting, guests moved between stations, each one targeting a different part of what makes skin look tired or slack. Microneedling with exosomes. Polynucleotides. Hydrafacial. The Fire and Ice facial. And, for one very lucky model, Morpheus8, the radiofrequency microneedling treatment that firms and tightens from within. It was a chance to see, side by side, how these treatments complement one another and what each one actually does.
This post is a proper look behind the scenes at what was on offer that day, and more usefully, an explanation of how each of those treatments works, who they suit and what to expect if you decide to book one for yourself. Three concerns kept coming up in conversation with guests: skin that had started to lose its firmness, skin that looked dull and flat, and skin texture that felt rough or looked porous in the mirror. The circuit was built around exactly those things.
Why a "skin circuit" makes sense
Skin ageing rarely arrives as a single problem. Collagen and elastin decline gradually, which is what allows the lower face and jawline to soften. Cell turnover slows, so the fresh, light-reflecting cells that give young skin its glow sit under a layer of dull ones for longer. Pores can look larger as the surrounding skin loses its scaffolding. Hydration drops. These things happen at once, and they feed into each other.
That is why stacking complementary treatments often gets better results than repeating the same one. A resurfacing facial clears away dead surface cells and leaves skin brighter, but it does little for laxity deep in the dermis. Radiofrequency microneedling tightens and rebuilds structure, but it is not designed to give you an instant party glow. Bio-stimulators like polynucleotides work quietly over weeks to improve the underlying quality of the tissue. Put them together thoughtfully and each one covers a gap the others leave.
The doctors at Wellface tend to think in terms of layers. Surface glow, deeper texture, and structural firmness are three separate jobs, and the circuit at Esher was a neat way of showing how a considered plan can address all three rather than chasing one at the expense of the others.
Firming and tightening with Morpheus8
The treatment that drew the most attention was Morpheus8, the radiofrequency microneedling platform from InMode. It does two things at once. Fine needles create tiny controlled channels in the skin, which triggers the body's natural repair response, and at the same time those needles deliver radiofrequency energy into the deeper layers of the dermis. That heat is the important part. It causes existing collagen to contract, so you get some immediate tightening, and it stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin over the following weeks and months.
Because the depth can be adjusted, Morpheus8 reaches further than standard microneedling. That makes it a genuine option for the softening jawline, the early jowl, crepey skin on the neck and laxity around the lower face that used to be difficult to improve without surgery. It is not a facelift, and it is honest to say so, but for the right person it can meaningfully firm and refine skin that has started to lose its edge.
What a Morpheus8 session feels like
Numbing cream goes on first and is left for a good while, because comfort matters. The treatment itself feels like a warm, prickling pressure as the handpiece passes over each area. Most people describe it as very manageable once the skin is properly numb. Afterwards the skin looks flushed, a little like mild sunburn, and can feel tight and warm for a day or two. Some people notice a faint grid pattern from the needles that fades within a few days.
Downtime is real but short. Many patients are comfortable back at work the next day with a little makeup, and the social redness has usually settled within two to three days. Results build gradually, with the firming and smoothing becoming most obvious around the twelve week mark as new collagen matures. A course of sessions is usually recommended for the best result, spaced several weeks apart.
Microneedling with exosomes for texture and glow
Alongside Morpheus8, guests could try traditional microneedling paired with exosomes. Microneedling on its own uses very fine needles to create micro-injuries in the skin. It sounds counterintuitive, but that controlled injury is exactly what prompts the skin to lay down fresh collagen, refine rough texture and soften the look of enlarged pores and shallow scarring.
The exosomes are what make this version feel current. Exosomes are tiny messenger vesicles packed with growth factors and signalling molecules that help direct skin cells during repair. Applied straight after microneedling, while those micro-channels are still open, they can support a calmer, faster recovery and give the healing process a richer set of instructions to work from. The upshot for most people is smoother texture, a brighter tone and skin that simply looks healthier.
It is a gentler prospect than Morpheus8. Expect some redness and warmth on the day, a bit like a light flush, usually settling within twenty four to forty eight hours. It suits people who want to work on texture, pores and overall radiance without committing to the deeper tightening of radiofrequency.
Polynucleotides: repairing skin from the inside
Polynucleotides were another star of the circuit, and they deserve the attention. These are purified fragments of DNA, most commonly derived from salmon, that are injected into the skin to act as a bio-stimulator. Rather than filling or freezing anything, they improve the quality of the tissue itself. They hydrate deeply, calm inflammation, support fibroblast activity and encourage the skin to behave in a younger, more resilient way.
People often notice their skin looking plumper and more hydrated within a couple of weeks, with the more meaningful improvements in firmness and texture building over a course. Polynucleotides are especially useful for thin, crepey or tired-looking skin, and for delicate areas like under the eyes where the skin is fine and easily dehydrated. They pair beautifully with tightening treatments because they improve the canvas that everything else is working on.
A short course, typically spaced a few weeks apart, tends to give the best foundation, after which occasional top-ups keep things ticking over. Downtime is minimal, though small injection bumps and the odd bruise can appear and settle quickly.
Instant radiance: Hydrafacial and Fire and Ice
Not everything needs needles. Two of the most popular stations on the day were the facials, and they earn their place for good reason.
Hydrafacial
The Hydrafacial is a multi-step treatment that cleanses, gently exfoliates, extracts congestion from the pores and floods the skin with hydrating serums, all using a vortex-style device that works by suction rather than harsh scrubbing. It is a genuine crowd-pleaser because it delivers a visible glow the same day with no downtime at all. Skin looks clearer, feels softer and takes makeup better almost immediately. On the day in Esher we were offering it "times two", meaning a more thorough double treatment for an even deeper cleanse and a stronger result.
It suits almost everyone, including those who have never had a treatment before and want something effective but low commitment. It is also a lovely way to prepare the skin before an event, or to maintain results between more intensive treatments.
Fire and Ice facial
The Fire and Ice facial, from iS Clinical, is a two-part resurfacing treatment with a bit of a reputation. The "fire" step is an intensive resurfacing masque, rich in ingredients like glycolic acid and retinol, that gives a warming tingle as it gets to work loosening dull surface cells and refining texture. The "ice" step follows with a soothing, rejuvenating masque full of hydrating and calming ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, aloe and antioxidants, which cools everything down and leaves skin comfortable and radiant.
The result is smoother, brighter, tighter-looking skin with a real glow, and it is popular precisely because it delivers that quickly. Most people can go straight back to their day afterwards, perhaps with a touch of pinkness that settles fast.
Choosing the right treatment for your skin
With so many options, the sensible question is which one you actually need. As a rough guide, if your main concern is dullness and you want a quick, reliable glow, a Hydrafacial or Fire and Ice facial is the natural starting point. If rough texture, enlarged pores or shallow scarring bother you, microneedling with exosomes is worth considering. If your skin looks thin, tired or dehydrated and you want to improve its underlying quality, polynucleotides are the treatment to ask about. And if it is laxity, a softening jawline or crepey skin on the neck that you notice most, Morpheus8 is the one built for that job.
In practice, the best outcomes often come from combining a couple of these over time rather than picking a single fix. That is exactly what a consultation is for. A Wellface doctor will look at your skin properly, ask what is bothering you and what your timelines are, and put together a plan that makes sense for your face rather than a one-size-fits-all package.
Common questions about our skin treatments
Which treatment gives the fastest results?
For instant radiance, the Hydrafacial and Fire and Ice facial win, because you leave with visibly brighter, smoother skin the same day and no downtime. Treatments like Morpheus8 and polynucleotides work more gradually, with the best results appearing over several weeks as collagen and skin quality improve.
Do these treatments hurt?
Most are very comfortable. The facials are relaxing rather than painful. Microneedling and Morpheus8 involve numbing cream first, after which people generally describe a warm prickling sensation rather than real pain. Polynucleotide injections use very fine needles and are well tolerated by most patients.
How much downtime should I expect?
It varies by treatment. The facials have essentially no downtime. Microneedling with exosomes usually means a day or two of mild redness. Morpheus8 tends to involve two to three days of flushing and slight sensitivity. Polynucleotides may leave small bumps or occasional bruising that settle quickly.
Can these treatments be combined?
Yes, and they often are, though timing matters. Some are performed in the same session and others are spaced out to let the skin recover between them. Your doctor will sequence things safely so each treatment supports the next rather than overloading the skin.
Are the treatments suitable for all skin tones?
Many are, but suitability always depends on your individual skin, history and any active concerns. This is one of the reasons a proper consultation with a doctor comes first, so that the plan is both effective and safe for you.
