HArmonyCa: The Hybrid Injectable That Lifts Now and Builds Collagen Later

YT Dr Yasmin Tayeb Published 25 September 2025 · 9 min read

In a recent treatment at Wellface, I showed something that stops most people mid-scroll: a face treated on one side only. My patient Simone had noticed her features slimming down after some weight loss, with a slight hollowing under the cheeks and at the temples that was starting to read as gaunt. After a single syringe of HArmonyCa placed on just half the face, the difference was clear on camera. One side sat lifted, smooth and balanced. The other still looked hollow.

That split-screen moment is the best way to understand what this treatment actually does. It is not about changing someone's face or making a feature jump out. As I put it while I worked, the only things that should stand out are Simone's eyes, her lips and her smile, not any shadowing under the cheekbones. HArmonyCa is designed to restore what quietly disappears with time and weight change, and to do it in a way that looks like nothing has been done at all.

Below, I explain how this hybrid injectable works, what a session at Wellface involves, who tends to benefit most, and how the results build over the weeks and months after your appointment.

What HArmonyCa actually is

HArmonyCa is a hybrid injectable made by Allergan Aesthetics, the company behind some of the best known names in facial aesthetics. What makes it different is that it combines two ingredients that usually come separately. The first is hyaluronic acid, the same water-loving gel used in traditional dermal fillers. The second is calcium hydroxyapatite, a mineral compound that has long been used as a collagen stimulator.

Putting the two together in one syringe gives the treatment a dual action. The hyaluronic acid goes to work straight away, adding volume and gently lifting the tissue where it is placed. That is the "instant" part you can see on the treatment table. The calcium hydroxyapatite works on a slower clock. Once it settles into the deeper layers of the skin, it prompts the body to lay down fresh collagen around the microspheres. This is the process that gives HArmonyCa its longevity and its skin-quality benefits.

Think of it as a two-speed treatment. One ingredient answers the question "how do I look today", and the other answers "how do I look in six months". Most fillers only do the first. Most pure biostimulators only do the second. HArmonyCa is one of the few products that does both from a single injection, which is exactly why it produced such an immediate change on Simone's face while also setting up longer-term collagen support.

Why it suits skin laxity and a softening jawline

The concerns I described in the reel are extremely common, and they tend to arrive together. As we move through our late thirties and beyond, collagen and elastin production slows, fat pads in the face shift and shrink, and the underlying support structure loosens. The result is skin that looks less firm, cheeks that flatten or hollow, temples that scoop inwards and a jawline that loses its clean edge.

Weight loss can accelerate all of this. The face is often the first place a loss of a few kilos shows, because there is very little fat to spare there in the first place. What remains can look hollow rather than sculpted, and the skin that once sat over fuller tissue now has less to support it. That was Simone's exact situation: good bone structure, but a hollowing under the cheek and at the temples that made her look more tired and drawn than she felt.

HArmonyCa addresses this on two fronts. The immediate volume restores the support that has been lost, so cheeks lift and the mid-face looks fuller and smoother. The collagen stimulation then improves the firmness and quality of the skin itself over the following weeks, which is what helps a soft jawline look more defined and a lax lower face look tighter. It is a structural approach rather than a spot treatment for a single line.

Where it tends to be placed

The most popular areas for HArmonyCa are the lower face and jawline, the cheeks and the mid-face, and the temples. These are the regions where laxity and volume loss are most visible and where a lift has the biggest knock-on effect on the whole face. Lifting the cheek, for example, softens the nasolabial folds without anyone touching them directly. Restoring the temples opens up the upper face and stops that scooped, hollow look around the eyes.

What a treatment at Wellface involves

Every HArmonyCa treatment at Wellface begins with a proper consultation. This matters more than any single injection technique, because the whole point of the product is balance. I assess your face at rest and in movement, look at where volume has been lost, and map out a plan that respects your natural proportions. My philosophy, visible in the way I worked on Simone, is that the treatment should never announce itself.

On the day, the skin is cleansed and a topical numbing cream is usually applied for comfort. The product itself also contains lidocaine, a local anaesthetic, so most people find the experience very manageable. The injections are placed in the deeper layers of the skin, either with a fine needle or a blunt-tipped cannula depending on the area. A single syringe often covers a treatment zone, as you saw with the one-side demonstration, though the exact amount depends on your face and your goals.

The appointment itself is quick, often around thirty to forty-five minutes including numbing time. You will see the immediate lift from the hyaluronic acid before you leave, though it is worth remembering that a little initial swelling can slightly exaggerate the result on the day.

Downtime and aftercare

One of the reasons treatments like this are so popular is that they fit around real life. Most people go straight back to their normal day afterwards. You may have some redness, mild swelling or the odd small bruise at the injection points, and this typically settles within a few days.

For the first day or two, it is sensible to avoid strenuous exercise, very hot environments like saunas and steam rooms, and alcohol, all of which can increase swelling or bruising. Try not to press or massage the treated area unless I have specifically shown you how, keep the skin clean, and hold off on heavy makeup for the rest of the treatment day. If you have any make-or-break events in the diary, it is worth leaving a couple of weeks between your appointment and the occasion so any minor swelling has fully settled.

How the results develop over time

The timeline is part of what makes HArmonyCa satisfying. There are really two phases to watch.

The first is immediate. Thanks to the hyaluronic acid, you leave your appointment already looking lifted and more balanced, which is the effect I captured on Simone. This is genuinely useful, because it lets both you and me see the shape of the final result straight away rather than waiting weeks to know whether it worked.

The second phase is gradual. Over the following weeks and months, the calcium hydroxyapatite encourages your own collagen to build in the treated areas. As that new collagen forms, the hyaluronic acid slowly breaks down, so the volume you can feel early on is quietly replaced by firmer, better-supported tissue of your own making. Many people find the result matures beautifully during this period, looking more integrated and natural as the weeks pass.

Longevity varies from person to person, but the collagen-stimulating effect means results commonly last well beyond a standard filler, often in the region of a year to eighteen months. I will advise on timing for any top-up or maintenance based on how your skin responds.

Common questions about HArmonyCa

Is HArmonyCa a filler or a collagen stimulator?

It is genuinely both, which is what makes it a hybrid. The hyaluronic acid behaves like a filler and gives immediate volume, while the calcium hydroxyapatite behaves like a biostimulator and prompts your body to produce new collagen over time. You get the visible result of a filler with the longer-term skin benefits of a collagen treatment from a single product.

Will it look natural?

That is entirely down to assessment and technique, and it is my priority at Wellface. Placed thoughtfully in the right layer and the right amount, HArmonyCa restores support rather than adding obvious bulk. The aim, as I describe it, is a face that looks lifted, smooth and all in one piece, with nothing jumping out. The half-face demonstration is a good illustration: the treated side simply looked like a fresher version of Simone, not a different person.

Does it hurt?

Most people tolerate the treatment very well. Numbing cream is applied beforehand and the product contains a local anaesthetic, so discomfort is usually mild. You may feel small pinches or some pressure during the injections, and any tenderness afterwards tends to be short-lived.

Who is a good candidate?

HArmonyCa suits adults who are noticing skin laxity, volume loss or a softening jawline and who want a natural-looking lift with the bonus of collagen support. It is particularly useful for people who have lost volume through ageing or weight change, as Simone had. A consultation is essential to confirm it is right for you, as it is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for people with certain medical or skin conditions.

How is it different from Profhilo or standard filler?

Standard hyaluronic acid filler adds volume and lasts until the gel breaks down, with no significant collagen stimulation. Profhilo is a pure skin-quality treatment that hydrates and stimulates but does not lift or add structure. HArmonyCa sits between the two, offering both the structural lift of a filler and the collagen-building effect of a biostimulator in one treatment. The right choice depends on your concerns, which is exactly what a consultation is for.
