Morpheus8V: The Non-Surgical Treatment for Intimate and Pelvic Health

YT Dr Yasmin Tayeb Published 8 March 2025 · 8 min read

Some conversations only happen in a whisper, if they happen at all. Bladder weakness when you cough or laugh. A change in comfort or sensation after childbirth or through menopause. A general sense that things down below aren't quite what they were. These are incredibly common experiences, and yet so many women carry them quietly, assuming there's nothing to be done short of surgery.

There is a great deal that can be done. In this video, I explain how Morpheus8V is a non-surgical treatment that uses radiofrequency and microneedling to restore tone, comfort and function to the vaginal and vulvar tissues. It has had mainstream attention on programmes like This Morning, where the idea of "anti-ageing" the vagina raised plenty of eyebrows, and understandably so. The phrase is catchy, but it undersells what the treatment is really about. This isn't vanity. For many women, it's about quality of life, comfort, and the confidence to move through their day without a second thought.

At Wellface, I offer Morpheus8V alongside a broader suite of intimate wellness treatments in a private, discreet setting. This article explains how the treatment works, what a session actually involves, who tends to benefit, and how it fits alongside the other options available for pelvic health.

What Morpheus8V actually does

Morpheus8V is part of a family of intimate health devices that combine two proven technologies: microneedling and radiofrequency. On its own, microneedling creates thousands of tiny, controlled channels in the tissue, which prompts the body to repair and regenerate. Add radiofrequency energy delivered through those needles, and you also heat the deeper layers of tissue in a precise, targeted way. That heat is what drives the real change.

The device uses fine, gold-coated needles that deliver radiofrequency energy to a controlled depth beneath the surface. This gentle, uniform heating stimulates the body to produce fresh collagen and elastin, the structural proteins that keep tissue firm, elastic and well supported. Over the weeks that follow, the treated area gradually becomes tighter, more resilient and better hydrated as the tissue remodels itself.

Because the energy is delivered internally to the vaginal canal as well as to the external vulvar tissue, Morpheus8V can address concerns that surface creams and lubricants simply can't reach. It works on the quality and structure of the tissue itself rather than masking a symptom. That's why the results tend to build steadily and last, rather than fading after a day or two.

The concerns it can help with

The reasons women come in for a consultation vary enormously, and there's rarely just one. Vaginal laxity is a common thread, often following childbirth or simply as a result of the natural loss of collagen that comes with age. Many women describe a loss of tone or a feeling that intimacy isn't as comfortable or as satisfying as it once was.

Dryness is another frequent concern, particularly around and after menopause when falling oestrogen levels thin the tissue and reduce natural lubrication. By encouraging the tissue to rehydrate and rebuild, Morpheus8V can improve comfort day to day and during intimacy.

Then there's bladder weakness, which is more common than most people realise. Around one in three women over the age of 35 will experience some form of stress urinary incontinence, that little leak when you cough, sneeze, laugh or exercise. By strengthening and supporting the tissue around the urethra and the pelvic floor, treatments in this category can meaningfully reduce those episodes and, for a lot of women, the constant low-level anxiety that goes with them.

It's worth being honest about the language here. When we talk about "anti-ageing your vagina", what we really mean is restoring firmness, comfort, lubrication and function to tissue that has changed over time. It's not about appearance for its own sake. As I often put it, this is life-changing for women because of what it does for their comfort, their confidence and their relationships, not because of vanity.

What a session involves

A Morpheus8V appointment is quicker and more comfortable than most people expect. Everything begins with a consultation, which matters enormously with intimate treatments. This is your chance to describe what's bothering you, ask every question you have, and let me assess whether Morpheus8V is the right approach for you or whether another treatment, or a combination, would serve you better.

On the day of treatment, a topical numbing cream is applied to the area and left for around fifteen minutes so that everything is comfortable before we begin. The handpiece is then used to deliver the radiofrequency microneedling to the internal and external tissues as needed. The active part of the treatment usually takes around thirty minutes.

Most women describe the sensation as warmth with some pressure and a little tingling, rather than genuine pain. Because the area has been numbed, discomfort is generally minor. Afterwards you might notice some mild redness, swelling or tenderness, and occasionally a little light spotting, all of which typically settles within a day or two.

How many sessions you'll need

Morpheus8V is not usually a one-and-done treatment. For the best results, a course of around three sessions spaced roughly four to six weeks apart is typical. Some women notice improvements after a single session, particularly with bladder symptoms, but the tissue remodelling that gives lasting results continues over several months as new collagen matures.

Results commonly last somewhere in the region of a year to eighteen months, after which an annual maintenance session helps keep the tissue supported. I'll give you a realistic plan based on your concerns and what I find at your consultation, rather than a fixed package that ignores your individual needs.

Downtime and aftercare

One of the reasons this treatment appeals to so many women is how little it interrupts daily life. There's no general anaesthetic, no incisions and no lengthy recovery. Most people return to work and light activities the same day or the day after.

The main thing to observe is a short period of pelvic rest. As a general guide, it's sensible to avoid sexual intercourse, tampons, swimming and hot baths for a few days while the tissue settles, and I'll confirm exactly how long based on the treatment you've had. Staying well hydrated in the days before and after helps the tissue respond well, and gentle everyday movement is absolutely fine.

Beyond that, aftercare is refreshingly simple. There are no complicated routines and no downtime spent hiding away. The changes happen quietly in the background as your body does the work of rebuilding.

Where Morpheus8V fits among other intimate treatments

Morpheus8V is one part of a wider toolkit for intimate and pelvic health, and it's often most powerful when the right treatments are combined. At Wellface we also offer Forma V, a gentler radiofrequency treatment that heats the tissue without needling. Forma V involves no numbing and effectively no downtime, which makes it a good option for milder concerns or for women who want to ease in gradually.

For pelvic floor strength specifically, there's an intravaginal electrical muscle stimulation treatment. A comfortable probe stimulates the pelvic floor muscles to contract far more intensively than you could achieve on your own. A single thirty-minute session is often compared to performing tens of thousands of Kegel exercises, and it can be highly effective for bladder weakness in particular. Where Morpheus8V works on the quality of the tissue, this works on the strength of the muscle, so the two complement each other well.

Choosing between these, or combining them, is exactly what the consultation is for. Some women need tissue tightening and hydration, some need pelvic floor strengthening, and many benefit from a tailored mix. Having the full range under one roof means the plan can be built around you rather than around whichever single device happens to be available.

Common questions about Morpheus8V

Is Morpheus8V painful?

Most women find it very tolerable. A topical numbing cream is applied beforehand, so the sensation during treatment is usually warmth and mild pressure rather than pain. Any tenderness afterwards tends to be minor and short-lived.

Is it suitable after childbirth or during menopause?

Yes, these are two of the most common reasons women choose it. After childbirth it can help restore tone and comfort, and around and after menopause it can address dryness and laxity linked to the natural drop in oestrogen. I'll check the timing is right for you, particularly if you're still in the early postnatal period.

When will I see results?

Some improvements, especially with bladder symptoms, can appear within a couple of weeks. Because the treatment works by stimulating new collagen, the fuller results build over the following months and typically peak after a course of sessions is complete.

How long do the results last?

For most women, results last around twelve to eighteen months. An annual maintenance session helps preserve the benefits over the longer term.

Who isn't suitable for the treatment?

Morpheus8V isn't appropriate during pregnancy, and there are certain medical situations, such as active infection or specific gynaecological conditions, where it may need to be delayed or ruled out. This is precisely why a thorough consultation comes first, so the treatment is only ever recommended when it's safe and genuinely right for you.
