The Three Treatments Worth Booking This Autumn and Winter

YT Dr Yasmin Tayeb Published 26 September 2024 · 9 min read

The holidays are behind us, the sun has gone into hiding, and the diary starts to fill with cosier plans. It might feel like a quiet time for your skin. In truth, it's the opposite. The cooler, darker months are exactly when the treatments that need you to stay out of strong sunlight come into their own, and they give collagen the weeks it needs to build quietly in the background.

At Wellface, three treatments rise to the top of my list every autumn and winter. Each one tackles the concerns that tend to creep up with age, particularly laxity and that early softening of the jaw and cheeks that people often notice first in winter light. One tightens and refines from within the skin. One lifts and rebuilds collagen through a clever hybrid injectable. And one hands you an instant glow for the parties, dinners and family gatherings that fill the season.

Here is why I reach for Morpheus8, HArmonyCa and the Advanced Fusion Facial when the weather turns, and how to decide which one belongs in your plan.

Morpheus8: tightening and refining from the inside out

Morpheus8 is the treatment that, as our team puts it, is blowing everything else out of the park. It combines two well established ideas into one device. The first is microneedling, where fine needles create tiny controlled channels in the skin to trigger repair. The second is radiofrequency energy, delivered through those same needles into the deeper layers of the dermis.

That combination is what makes it so effective for skin that has started to lose its firmness. The needles reach a set depth, then release radiofrequency heat exactly where collagen and elastin live. Your body reads that heat as a signal to remodel, laying down fresh collagen and contracting the existing structure over the following weeks and months. The visible results build gradually rather than appearing overnight, which is part of why it looks so natural.

What it helps with

People come to Morpheus8 for a specific set of complaints, and they tend to be the ones that bother us most as we get older. Crepey, papery skin on the cheeks and around the eyes. Enlarged pores that never quite look refined. A general loss of tightness along the lower face and jaw. Uneven texture and the dull, tired quality that sun and time leave behind.

Because the radiofrequency works at depth, it addresses laxity that a surface treatment simply cannot reach. My patients often describe their skin afterwards as tighter, smoother and somehow more compact, with pores that look genuinely smaller and a texture that catches the light more evenly.

What a session is like and the downtime

Before I begin, the area is thoroughly cleansed and numbing cream is applied so you stay comfortable throughout. I pass the handpiece methodically across the treatment zone, and most people describe a warm, prickling sensation rather than anything sharp. A full face usually takes around 45 minutes to an hour once numbing is factored in.

Afterwards you can expect some redness, a little swelling and a faint grid pattern of pinpoint marks where the needles passed. For most people this settles within two to three days, though skin can feel slightly rough or dry for a little longer as it renews. This is precisely why autumn and winter suit it so well. Freshly treated skin is more sensitive to UV, so keeping out of strong sun is far easier when the sun is scarce to begin with.

For lasting results, I usually recommend Morpheus8 as a short course of around three sessions spaced roughly a month apart, with improvement continuing for months after the final treatment as new collagen matures. Many of my patients then return once or twice a year to maintain the effect.

HArmonyCa: lifting and rebuilding collagen at the same time

If Morpheus8 works from the skin's surface downwards, HArmonyCa works from within the deeper tissues. It's my go-to biostimulating treatment, and it does something rather clever. It's a hybrid injectable, which means it brings together two components that usually come separately.

The first is hyaluronic acid, the same smoothing, hydrating gel used in traditional dermal fillers. This gives an immediate, subtle lift the moment it's placed. The second is calcium hydroxylapatite, a mineral based particle that acts as a scaffold and encourages your own body to produce fresh collagen over the following weeks and months. So you get a visible result straight away, then a gradual, longer lasting improvement as your natural collagen builds around it.

Why it suits sagging and early jowls

The reason I like HArmonyCa so much for laxity is that it lifts strategically rather than simply adding volume. Placed thoughtfully along the cheeks, the jawline and the lower face, it supports the structures that soften and descend with age. The effect is a face that looks lifted, healthier and more rested, without the puffy, overfilled look that people rightly want to avoid.

Because it stimulates collagen, HArmonyCa also improves the overall quality of the skin over time, not just its position. My patients often say they look refreshed in a way that friends notice but can't quite put their finger on, which is exactly the sort of result I aim for. It rejuvenates rather than transforms.

What to expect afterwards

Treatment is a series of small injections, usually completed in well under an hour, with a numbing agent included for comfort. Some tenderness, mild swelling or the odd small bruise is normal in the first few days, and these settle quickly. The immediate lift is visible right away, while the collagen stimulating benefits reveal themselves over the following two to three months and can last well beyond a year.

As with any injectable, an assessment with me comes first. HArmonyCa is powerful, and where it's placed matters enormously, so I only ever carry it out after a proper conversation about your face, your concerns and what would genuinely suit you.

Advanced Fusion Facial: the instant glow for special occasions

Not everything this season is about long-term collagen. Sometimes you have an event on Saturday and you want to look your absolute best on the day. That's where our Advanced Fusion Facial comes in, or as our team affectionately calls it, the pre-Oscars glow up.

It combines two treatments that are excellent on their own and even better together. The first is the Hydrafacial, a multi step facial that cleanses, gently exfoliates, clears out congested pores and floods the skin with hydrating serums using a vortex tip. The second is the iS Clinical Fire and Ice facial, a two mask resurfacing treatment. The Fire stage is an intensive resurfacing masque that stimulates and smooths. The Ice stage is a cooling, soothing masque that calms and rehydrates. Together they leave the skin bright, plump and noticeably refreshed.

When to book it

Timing is the whole point of this one. Because there's no real downtime, it's ideal on the day of a big event or a couple of days beforehand. Think weddings, parties, milestone birthdays, a shoot, or simply the first proper night out of the winter season. Skin looks glowing, feels smooth and takes makeup beautifully.

It's also a lovely complement to the deeper treatments above. Many of my patients keep the Advanced Fusion Facial in regular rotation for that healthy, lit-from-within finish while Morpheus8 or HArmonyCa do the structural work over the longer term.

How to choose between them

These three treatments answer different questions, so the right choice depends on what's bothering you and what your timeline looks like.

If your main concern is crepey, lax skin, large pores or texture, and you're happy to invest in a short course over the winter, Morpheus8 is the natural starting point. If you've noticed softening along the jaw and cheeks and want a genuine lift alongside long-term collagen improvement, HArmonyCa is likely to be the standout. And if you simply want to look radiant for an occasion with zero downtime, the Advanced Fusion Facial is the one to book.

For many of my patients, the answer is a combination. Rebuilding the skin's structure with Morpheus8 or HArmonyCa through the colder months, then topping up with a facial before an event, is a common and effective plan. The best way to decide is a consultation, where I can look at your skin properly and tell you honestly what will make the biggest difference.

Common questions about our top autumn and winter treatments

Why are these treatments better in autumn and winter?

Both Morpheus8 and the resurfacing element of the Advanced Fusion Facial leave skin temporarily more sensitive to ultraviolet light. Treating in the cooler, darker months makes sun avoidance far more practical and reduces the risk of pigmentation issues. It also gives collagen the weeks it needs to build, so you're looking your best by the time spring arrives.

Do these treatments hurt?

Comfort is managed carefully throughout. Morpheus8 is carried out after numbing cream and most people describe warmth and prickling rather than pain. HArmonyCa uses a numbing agent and involves only small injections. The Advanced Fusion Facial is genuinely relaxing, with a mild tingling during the resurfacing stage that quickly passes.

How soon will I see results?

The Advanced Fusion Facial delivers an immediate glow the same day. HArmonyCa gives an instant lift from its hyaluronic acid component, with collagen benefits developing over two to three months. Morpheus8 improves gradually over several weeks as new collagen forms, with results continuing to build after a full course.

Can these treatments be combined?

Yes, and they often are. Because they work in different ways, at different depths and over different timescales, they complement one another well. I'll plan the order and spacing so that each treatment supports the others rather than overlapping unnecessarily.

Are they suitable for everyone?

Most healthy adults are good candidates, but suitability always depends on your skin, your medical history and your goals. Some conditions, medications and skin types need a tailored approach, which is exactly why every treatment at Wellface begins with a proper consultation and assessment by one of our doctors.
