Wedding Skin Prep for 2027: Why the Glass-Skin Plan Starts This Winter

HS Dr Hannah Sunley Published 22 September 2026 · 9 min read

Listen up. If you are attending a wedding in 2027, whether you are the bride, the groom, the mother of the bride, a bridesmaid or a guest who simply wants to look their best in the photos, this is the moment to start thinking about your skin. Not next spring. Not the month before. Now.

I had this exact conversation over the weekend. A group of friends, several of them getting married or heading to weddings next year, all said the same thing: Hannah, I need my glass skin for the big day. It is a lovely goal, and a completely achievable one. The catch is timing. The treatments that create that clear, hydrated, lit-from-within finish work gradually, in courses, with recovery time in between. You cannot rush the results, but you can plan for them.

The dark nights are rolling in, and that is genuinely good news for your skin plan. Winter is the ideal season to begin the more intensive work, because the sun is low and your diary is quieter. Starting now gives your skin months to respond, rebuild and settle, so that by the time you are standing for photographs, everything has peaked at the right moment.

Why 2027 skin prep starts in winter

There is a reason clinics see a rush of bridal enquiries in the autumn and winter. The most transformative skin treatments, particularly lasers and resurfacing, ask you to keep the treated area out of strong sunlight while it heals. In the darker months that is far easier to manage. You are covered up, the UV index is low, and you are not spending weekends in a beer garden or on a beach.

Winter also suits the rhythm of a proper skin plan. Treatments like microneedling, laser resurfacing and collagen-stimulating injectables are not one-and-done. They work in sequence, usually spaced three to six weeks apart, with your skin doing quiet repair work in the gaps. If your wedding is in, say, June 2027, starting this winter gives you a genuine runway. There is room for a full course, room to see how your skin responds, and room to make adjustments without ever feeling rushed.

The other advantage is that you avoid the panic booking. Nothing good comes from an aggressive treatment two weeks before you walk down the aisle. Give yourself time and you can be brave with the treatments that make the biggest difference, then keep things gentle and glow-focused as the day approaches.

Building your countdown: what to do and when

The simplest way to think about wedding skin prep is to count backwards from the date. Every treatment has a sweet spot, and a plan built around your timeline will always beat a scramble at the end.

9 to 12 months before

This is the window for the heavier lifting, and exactly why starting in winter for a 2027 wedding makes sense. If you have texture concerns, sun damage, acne scarring, enlarged pores or fine lines, this is when resurfacing lasers earn their place. At Wellface that might mean the Secret Pro platform for CO2 laser resurfacing, or Morpheus8 radiofrequency microneedling to firm and refine deeper in the skin. These treatments trigger real collagen remodelling, and collagen takes months to mature, so early is best. It is also the right time to start a course of medical-grade skincare so your skin is primed and behaving before you add anything else.

6 to 9 months before

Now the focus shifts to tone, clarity and overall quality. MOXI and BBL Hero are gentle enough to fit here comfortably. MOXI is a non-ablative laser that softens pigmentation and evens out tone with very little downtime, while BBL Hero targets redness and brown spots and gives the complexion a brighter, more uniform look. This is also a good stretch for a course of microneedling, and for starting hydration-focused injectables such as Profhilo or polynucleotides, which rebuild the skin from within over a series of sessions.

3 to 6 months before

With the groundwork done, this period is about deepening that glow and dialling in balance. Any anti-wrinkle injections or dermal filler intended to soften lines or restore volume should ideally be settled by now, so you know exactly how they look and there are no surprises. Profhilo and skin booster courses can continue, topping up the hydration and bounce that make skin catch the light.

The final 6 weeks

Close to the day, keep it light and predictable. This is the time for glow, not experiments. A Hydrafacial to deep-cleanse and hydrate, or an Aquagold facial to deliver a fine mist of bespoke ingredients just beneath the surface, will leave skin plump and radiant without any real downtime. The golden rule is simple: never try something brand new in the last few weeks. Stick to what your skin already knows and loves.

The treatments behind glass skin

Glass skin is a look rather than a single procedure. It describes a complexion that is smooth, poreless-looking, deeply hydrated and reflective, the kind that seems to glow from underneath. Getting there is about layering a few things that each do a different job.

Resurfacing and texture. Lasers such as CO2 (Secret Pro) and non-ablative options like MOXI refine the surface, soften scarring and fade pigment. Morpheus8 works deeper, using radiofrequency energy through tiny needles to tighten and remodel. These are the treatments that address the underlying quality of the skin, not just the surface.

Collagen and firmness. Microneedling creates controlled micro-channels that prompt the skin to produce fresh collagen and elastin, improving texture and resilience over a course. It also helps active skincare absorb more effectively.

Deep hydration. This is where a lot of the glass-skin magic sits. Profhilo is an injectable hyaluronic acid treatment that spreads through the skin to hydrate and stimulate, giving that plump, bouncy quality. Polynucleotides go a step further on skin quality and repair, and are excellent for delicate areas and overall rejuvenation. Skin boosters do a similar job of flooding the skin with hydration from within.

Balance and freshness. Sometimes the finishing touches are the smallest. A little anti-wrinkle treatment to soften an expression line, or filler to restore a hollow that has crept in, can bring the whole face into balance. Done early and conservatively, it simply makes you look rested rather than treated.

Radiance on tap. Hydrafacial and Aquagold are the low-commitment glow-givers. They suit almost everyone, need no recovery, and are ideal in the run-up to any event where you want skin looking its freshest.

It is not only for the bride

I am quite clear on this point. I do not care whether you are the one getting married or simply on the guest list. Grooms are increasingly booking in for skin prep, and rightly so, because the camera does not discriminate. Mothers of the bride and groom often want to look refreshed and radiant in the family portraits. Bridesmaids standing beside the couple all day are on camera constantly. Even a guest who wants to feel confident in a room full of photographers has every reason to plan ahead.

The beauty of starting early is that the plan can be as light or as involved as you like. Someone with great skin who just wants a subtle glow might need nothing more than a good skincare routine and a couple of Hydrafacials. Someone tackling long-standing texture or pigment might want a fuller course of laser and injectables. A consultation is where that gets decided, honestly and without pressure.

Aftercare and looking after your investment

Whatever your plan includes, the results only hold up if you protect them. Daily SPF is non-negotiable, especially after any laser or resurfacing work, because unprotected sun exposure will undo pigment correction and age the skin you have just worked to improve. Winter does not excuse you from this, as UVA passes through cloud and glass all year round.

Beyond that, consistency at home matters more than any single treatment. A medical-grade routine, something along the lines of ZO Skin Health or iS Clinical, keeps your skin in good condition between appointments and makes the in-clinic work go further. Hydration, sleep and staying off aggressive DIY actives close to the day all play their part too. The plan and the products work together, which is why I tend to build both at the same time.

Common questions about wedding skin prep

How far in advance should I really start?

For a 2027 wedding, starting this winter is ideal. Around nine to twelve months gives you enough time for a proper course of the more intensive treatments and lets collagen-based results mature. If your date is sooner, do not despair, there is still plenty that can be done, but the earlier you begin the more options you have.

Will people be able to tell I have had treatments?

Done well and done early, the answer is no. The aim is for you to look like a well-rested, glowing version of yourself, not like you have had work done. That is exactly why timing matters. Starting months ahead means everything settles naturally, and nothing is fresh or obvious on the day.

What if I have never had any treatments before?

That is completely fine, and starting early is even more valuable for you. It means we can introduce things gently, one step at a time, and see how your skin responds before adding anything else. A first consultation is really a conversation about your skin, your concerns and your date, and the plan builds from there.

Can I combine several treatments?

Yes, and most good skin plans do exactly that, because different treatments address different layers. The key is sequencing them sensibly with the right gaps in between, which is what a doctor-led plan is designed to do. You will never be asked to do everything at once.

Is winter really better than starting in spring?

For the laser and resurfacing side of things, yes. Lower sun exposure makes healing simpler and protects your results. It also spreads the work out comfortably rather than cramming it into the warmer, busier months when you are more likely to be outdoors.

Ready to plan your glow?

If there is a 2027 wedding in your diary, the smartest thing you can do this winter is book a consultation with me and map out a plan while there is still plenty of time to enjoy the process. I will look at your skin, listen to what you want for the day, and build a realistic schedule around your date so nothing is ever left to the last minute. You can see me in Cobham, Esher or Wimbledon, whichever suits you best. Start the conversation now, and let your skin do its quiet work through the darker months, ready to shine when it counts.
