Inside the Wellface Cobham Flagship: How a Doctor-Led Clinic Grew From Part-Time Passion to Purpose-Built Home

WF The Wellface Team Published 10 July 2024 · 9 min read

Every clinic has a beginning, and ours was a quiet one. Wellface started part-time, built around a simple belief that aesthetic medicine should be led by doctors, guided by good taste and delivered somewhere that feels calm rather than clinical. What began as a handful of appointments has grown into a full-time brand with clinics in Cobham, Esher and Wimbledon, and along the way we decided we wanted a proper home for it all. A flagship. Somewhere that reflected exactly how we wanted patients to feel from the moment they walked in.

We chose Cobham. Then we did the unglamorous, wonderful work of turning an empty shop into that flagship: finding the right location, choosing every fixture, and working with our builders to transform the space room by room. The reel we shared captured the messy, exciting middle of that process, from bare walls to opening day. This post is the fuller story behind it, and a look at what the finished clinic means for anyone thinking about their first visit.

If you have watched a business grow from the outside, you will know the tidy version rarely tells the truth. Ours involved plenty of decisions made late in the evening, a fair bit of dust, and the strange satisfaction of seeing a treatment room appear where there used to be nothing. We loved every bit of it, and we think that care shows in the finished result.

Why we built a flagship rather than just another room

Plenty of aesthetic treatments can technically be done anywhere with a chair and good lighting. We never wanted to work that way. When you are trusting a doctor to treat your face, the environment around that treatment matters more than people expect. It sets the tone for how carefully everything else is done.

A flagship gave us the space to do things properly. Dedicated treatment rooms rather than repurposed corners. Room for the technology we rely on, from energy-based devices to the quieter tools of injectable work. A reception and consultation area where you can actually sit down, ask questions and not feel rushed towards a decision. The building itself became part of the standard we hold ourselves to.

Cobham suited us for reasons beyond the postcode. It sits comfortably within reach of much of Surrey and south-west London, close enough to our Esher and Wimbledon patients to feel connected rather than separate. It is the kind of town where people value considered, private care and are happy to travel a little for someone they trust. That fit mattered when we were choosing where to plant the flag.

Designing for how patients actually feel

There is a particular nervousness that comes with a first aesthetics appointment. Most people arrive with a mixture of curiosity and slight self-consciousness, unsure whether they will be pushed towards more than they wanted. We designed the Cobham clinic to take the edge off that from the start. Soft, unclinical spaces. Privacy where it counts. Enough calm that a consultation can be a genuine conversation rather than a sales pitch.

That thinking ran through every fixture choice. It is easy to make a space look impressive. Making it feel reassuring is harder, and it was the brief we kept coming back to.

What doctor-led actually means at Wellface

The phrase gets used loosely across the industry, so it is worth being precise about what it means for us. Every Wellface clinic is run by medical doctors, and our team includes Dr Yasmin Tayeb, who founded Wellface, alongside Dr Yosra Albeyatti, Dr Amina Albeyatti, Dr Bianca Coveva, Dr Olivia McCormack and Dr Hannah Sunley. Aesthetic medicine is a field where anatomy, judgement and knowing when to say no matter enormously. Having doctors making those calls is not a marketing flourish. It is the whole point.

In practice it shapes how appointments run. A consultation looks at your face as a whole rather than fixating on the single line you came in worried about. It considers your medical history, your skin, and what will still look natural in five years rather than five weeks. Dr Yasmin Tayeb has always been clear that the best outcome is often the most restrained one, and that ethos runs through the team. Sometimes the right answer is a smaller treatment than you expected, or a different one entirely.

It also means safety sits underneath everything. Complications in aesthetics are uncommon when work is done well, but they are managed far better by a medically trained team who understand the tissue they are working with. That confidence is part of what you are paying for, even when you never need to draw on it.

What you can have done at the Cobham clinic

The flagship was built to house a full range of treatments under one roof, which means most people can be looked after without being sent elsewhere. Broadly, the work falls into a few families.

Injectable treatments cover anti-wrinkle injections for expression lines and dermal fillers for restoring volume and definition, along with regenerative options such as Profhilo, polynucleotides and skin boosters that improve skin quality rather than simply filling it. There is Aquagold for delivering micro-doses of tailored ingredients across the skin, Aqualyx for small pockets of stubborn fat, and PRP, which uses your own blood to encourage repair and renewal.

On the device side, the clinic offers energy-based skin treatments including Morpheus8 for radiofrequency microneedling, BBL Hero and MOXI for tone and clarity, and CO2 laser resurfacing via the Secret Pro system for more significant textural concerns. For gentler, regular maintenance there is Hydrafacial, microneedling and a range of skin peels. Behind all of it sits medical-grade skincare, because most good results are built on a sensible routine at home as much as on anything done in the treatment room.

The advantage of having this range in one place is that your treatment plan can evolve without starting from scratch each time. A course that begins with skin quality can move on to subtle structural work later, always with the same team who already know your face.

Choosing between so many options

If that list feels overwhelming, you are not alone, and you are not expected to arrive knowing what you want. Choosing the right treatment is our job, not yours. A consultation exists precisely to translate a vague sense of "I look tired" into a clear, honest plan. Often the solution is simpler and less dramatic than people fear.

What to expect on your first visit

A first appointment at Cobham usually begins with a proper sit-down consultation. You will talk through what is bothering you, what you like about your face and what you would rather leave alone. Your doctor will examine your skin, ask about your medical history and any previous treatments, and be straight with you about what is realistic.

From there, some treatments can be carried out the same day if you are happy to proceed and there is no reason to wait. Others are better planned, particularly where several sessions are involved or where your skin needs preparing first. There is no pressure to decide on the spot. A good clinic is comfortable with you going away to think.

Downtime varies enormously depending on what you have done. Many of the lighter treatments, such as a Hydrafacial or anti-wrinkle injections, fit neatly into a normal day, and most people carry on as usual afterwards. Resurfacing lasers and stronger peels ask more of you, with some redness and social downtime while the skin recovers. Your doctor will tell you honestly what to expect before you commit, so there are no surprises the morning after.

Common questions about the Wellface Cobham clinic

Where exactly is the flagship clinic?

Our flagship is in Cobham, Surrey, chosen as a central and easily reachable base for patients across the county and from south-west London. We also have clinics in Esher and Wimbledon, so you can usually find a Wellface location that works for you.

Do I need to know which treatment I want before I book?

Not at all. Most people book a consultation precisely because they are unsure. You describe what you would like to change, and your doctor recommends the most appropriate approach, which is sometimes less than you imagined. Coming in with an open mind tends to lead to the most natural results.

Are treatments always carried out by a doctor?

Wellface is a doctor-led clinic, and medical oversight sits behind everything we do. When you book a consultation, you are seen by a medically trained practitioner who assesses suitability and plans your care with safety and long-term results in mind.

Is aesthetic treatment painful?

Most treatments are very tolerable. Injectables involve brief, small pinches, and numbing cream is used where it helps, for example with fillers or microneedling. Device treatments feel warm or prickly rather than genuinely sore for most people. Your practitioner will keep you comfortable throughout and talk you through each step.

How soon will I see results?

It depends entirely on the treatment. Anti-wrinkle injections take a couple of weeks to settle. Fillers are visible immediately, then refine as swelling eases. Skin quality treatments such as Profhilo, polynucleotides and resurfacing build gradually over weeks as the skin regenerates, which is exactly why they look so natural.

Come and see the space for yourself

We are proud of what the Cobham flagship became, but a building is really only the setting. What matters is what happens inside it: careful consultations, honest advice and treatments delivered by doctors who would rather do less well than more badly. If you have been curious about anything from a first Hydrafacial to a considered plan for the years ahead, the best next step is simply to come and talk to us.

You are welcome to book a consultation at Wellface in Cobham, Esher or Wimbledon. Bring your questions, however small, and let our team help you decide what, if anything, is right for you. We would love to show you around.
