Two jobs in one injection

Radiesse is made by Merz Aesthetics from calcium hydroxylapatite, often shortened to CaHA: tiny microspheres suspended in a smooth gel. Each part has its own role. The gel gives immediate support where it is placed. The microspheres act as a scaffold that prompts your skin to lay down fresh collagen over the weeks and months that follow. Over time the gel is gradually absorbed by the body, and what remains is your own collagen. That is why our doctors think of Radiesse in terms of firmness and support rather than shape.

If it is right for you and you are happy to proceed, treatment may be possible on the same day; if you would rather go home and think it over, that is entirely welcome. The treatment itself takes about 45 minutes, and Radiesse®+ contains lidocaine, a local anaesthetic, to help with comfort.

A slow reveal, by design

An initial change may be visible straight away, thanks to the supporting gel. The real story is slower. Collagen-related improvement builds gradually, typically becoming visible from around three months and continuing through six months and beyond. Dr Yasmin describes a result that can last well over a year before a top-up is considered, although how long it lasts depends on the area treated, the amount used and the individual. A review appointment is included, so your doctor can see how your skin is responding rather than guessing.

Honest about the risks

Like any injectable, Radiesse can cause bruising, swelling, redness, tenderness, itching or small lumps, and rarely nodules or inflammation. Rare vascular complications can occur with injectable treatments, and our doctors have emergency protocols in place for them. Because Radiesse is not hyaluronic acid, it cannot be dissolved with hyaluronidase the way some fillers can, which is exactly why careful planning matters. Treatment is generally deferred during pregnancy or breastfeeding. None of this is meant to alarm you, only to make sure you decide with the full picture.

The clinic is at 27 High Street, in the middle of the village among the cafés and boutiques, with parking nearby.
