Why the neck shows its age early
Neck skin is thinner than the skin on your cheeks, with fewer oil glands and a less generous supply of collagen and elastin. It also bends, turns and creases all day, every time you look down at a phone or laptop, and it is often forgotten when the sunscreen comes out.
Over time that can show up in several ways: fine horizontal lines, a crepey texture, vertical bands, or loose skin under the chin that people call turkey neck. The jawline softens too, and starts to blur into the neck rather than sitting as a clean edge.
Because these changes sit at different depths, one treatment rarely answers all of them. Dr Yasmin Tayeb, our founder, thinks of the neck in layers, and the plan below follows that thinking. Your consultation comes first, and that is where we check what is suitable for you.
Four treatments, one neck plan
Some necks need one of these and many need a combination. This is the order we usually think in, and your plan is adapted to what your practitioner sees.
Radiesse collagen booster
Calcium hydroxylapatite that prompts your own collagen to build over the following months. Dr Yasmin calls it “amazing for the neck, really improving the crepiness in the neck”, and it is known for defining the jawline, where the contour of the neck begins. Doctor-only, about 45 minutes, and your doctor will advise whether it is right for your neck.
RF microneedling
For turkey neck and skin tightening. Morpheus8 carries radiofrequency energy through fine needles into the deeper skin, encouraging it to tighten and to lay down fresh collagen and elastin over the following weeks and months.
Polynucleotides
For crepiness. These purified fragments of DNA, typically derived from salmon or trout, signal your skin’s repair cells to produce collagen and elastin. Over a course of sessions, skin can feel more supple and look more even.
Skin booster
For hydration. Tiny injections of lightweight hyaluronic acid gel act as an internal moisturiser, drawing water into dry, thin skin. Results develop over four weeks and can last up to nine months.
Tightening loose skin under the chin
Morpheus8 works at the depth where laxity begins, and the needle depth can be adjusted so that delicate neck skin is treated differently from the denser tissue along the jaw. Numbing cream goes on first, and a session usually takes under an hour with numbing included.
A course of around three sessions, spaced a few weeks apart, is typical. In one case Dr Yasmin shared, a patient in her fifties had three sessions and her neck looked firmer, with real definition back along the jaw. Individual results vary.
Expect redness and warmth for a day or two, a little like mild sunburn, with results developing over around three months and up to six after a course. It suits mild to moderate laxity. Very advanced, heavy sagging may need a surgical option, and we will tell you honestly if that is the case.

Vertical neck bands need a different approach
The vertical cords that show when you talk or tense are platysmal bands, part of a broad, flat sheet of muscle that runs down the front of the neck. Because they are muscle rather than skin, they call for a different treatment.
Our anti-wrinkle neck treatment for platysmal bands relaxes that muscle, softening the bands and easing its downward pull on the jawline. The effect comes on over one to two weeks and can last up to four months. It sits well alongside the treatments above, because it addresses movement rather than skin quality.
The injectable treatments on this page can cause bruising, swelling or small bumps that settle, and rare vascular complications are possible. Our doctors follow strict safety and emergency protocols.

A sequence, not a single fix

Frequently asked questions
It depends on what is causing the change. A neck is usually a mix of thinning skin, lost structure, dehydration and muscle movement, so many people benefit from more than one treatment. Your practitioner assesses the neck as a whole at consultation and suggests a sequence for you.

Crepey skin is about skin quality, so polynucleotides, skin boosters and collagen stimulation are the usual options. Vertical neck bands are muscle, so they are treated with anti-wrinkle treatment for platysmal bands. Many people have both.
It varies by treatment. Anti-wrinkle treatment comes on over one to two weeks. Skin boosters develop over four weeks. Morpheus8 builds over around three months, and up to six after a course. Radiesse is usually visible from around three months and continues through six months and beyond. Individual results vary.
Comfort is managed carefully. Morpheus8 is carried out after numbing cream, and most people describe warmth and prickling. Injectable treatments use fine needles and cause brief, minor discomfort, and Radiesse+ also contains lidocaine, a local anaesthetic.
There is no single right age. Many people notice changes in their late thirties and forties, and the trigger is usually what you see rather than a birthday. Starting earlier often means gentler treatment.
Polynucleotides and skin boosters are £350 per session. Neck anti-wrinkle treatment is £450. Morpheus8 for the face and neck is £950 per session, or £2,450 for three. Radiesse with a skin booster is £1,100, and your doctor confirms any other Radiesse plan and price at consultation.
