Filler sits beneath the skin, so it cannot always be judged from the surface alone. An ultrasound scan makes it possible to see where filler sits before anything is treated.
That can be useful if you had filler in the past and are unsure where it is now, if you are thinking about having it dissolved, or if you would like to understand what is already there before planning anything new. A scan gives that conversation something clearer to work from than a best guess.
How filler dissolving works
Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. Ultrasound-guided dissolving means the scan is used to guide where the enzyme is placed, rather than relying on what can be seen and felt from the surface.
