Radiesse®
Support now, collagen later. Radiesse gives a gentle lift where it is placed and prompts your own collagen to keep building, which is why our doctors reach for it on the jawline, the neck and the hands.
Radiesse®, by Merz Aesthetics
Radiesse is calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), made by Merz Aesthetics. Radiesse®+ also contains lidocaine, a local anaesthetic, for comfort. At Wellface it is planned and injected by our doctors only.
Support now, collagen later
Radiesse contains tiny calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in a gel. The gel gives immediate support; the microspheres act as a scaffold that prompts your body to lay down new collagen. As the gel is gradually absorbed, your own collagen remains, which is why the improvement looks so natural.
Where our doctors use Radiesse
Dr Yasmin Tayeb describes Radiesse as one of the best ways to improve crepey skin on the neck, and uses it for definition along the jawline and to restore the backs of the hands. It is also a mainstay for what many people now call Ozempic face, where rapid weight loss leaves the face looking hollow and less firm.
Every plan starts with a consultation. Your doctor looks at your anatomy, your skin and any previous treatments, explains the options, including whether HArmonyCa or a skin booster might suit you better, and agrees the areas and amount with you.
Why collagen biostimulators matter
Collagen is what keeps skin firm, and we lose around 1% of it a year from our twenties. One year is invisible, but over decades it shows as softer skin and less support. A collagen biostimulator such as Radiesse prompts your skin to make more of its own, so you are strengthening the skin itself as well as supporting it. The change builds gradually and looks like you, which is a big part of why aesthetics has moved beyond filler alone. Our guide to collagen stimulators explains how the options compare.
Radiesse is used for support rather than in the lips, and because it is not hyaluronic acid it cannot be dissolved with hyaluronidase, so your doctor plans placement and amount with care. Treatment is usually deferred during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Bruising, swelling, redness, tenderness and small lumps can occur and settle. Rarely, nodules or inflammation can develop, and as with any facial injectable rare vascular complications are possible, so our doctors follow strict safety and emergency protocols. Radiesse is often combined with a skin booster for skin quality as well as support.

Frequently asked questions
Radiesse is an injectable made by Merz Aesthetics from calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres in a gel. It gives immediate support and stimulates your own collagen over the following months.
Hyaluronic acid filler adds volume where it is placed. Radiesse adds some support too, but its main work is prompting new collagen, so it improves firmness and skin quality over time.
Our doctors use it for the jawline, crepey skin on the neck, the backs of the hands and volume loss after weight loss. It is not a lip treatment.
An initial change may be visible straight away. The collagen-related improvement is gradual, usually visible from around three months and continuing through six months and beyond.
It varies with the area, the amount used and how your skin responds, but the improvement can last well over a year before a top-up is considered.
Radiesse+ contains lidocaine, a local anaesthetic, to keep you comfortable. You may still feel some pressure or brief discomfort during the injections.
Radiesse combined with a skin booster is £1,100. Your doctor confirms your plan and price at consultation, and your review appointment is included.
No. Radiesse is not hyaluronic acid, so it cannot be dissolved with hyaluronidase the way some fillers can. That is why careful planning by a doctor matters.
