SKINVIVE™, by Allergan Aesthetics

SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM is made by Allergan Aesthetics, the company behind the JUVÉDERM range. You may know it by its previous UK name, JUVÉDERM VOLITE. Dr Olivia McCormack introduced it to her patients at Wellface, and every treatment is performed by one of our doctors.

Hydration from within

SKINVIVE is a lightly cross-linked hyaluronic acid gel, delivered as tiny microdroplets within the skin, usually across the cheeks. Hyaluronic acid holds many times its own weight in water, and as our natural stores decline, skin starts to look dull, dry and papery. SKINVIVE replenishes that hydration where skincare cannot reach.

01Deep hydration, skin that looks and feels better hydrated.
02Smoother texture, a softer, more even surface that catches the light.
03No change of shape, it improves skin quality, not facial structure.

Your SKINVIVE appointment

It starts with a consultation. Your doctor looks at your skin and your routine and confirms whether SKINVIVE is the right choice, or whether Profhilo, polynucleotides or another treatment would serve you better.

On the day, numbing cream is applied first, and SKINVIVE itself contains lidocaine for comfort. The gel is placed as a series of very small microdroplets with a fine needle. Small raised points, redness or bruising can be visible for a short time; most people carry on with their day, avoiding heavy make-up, intense exercise and heat for the first day or so.

Results, and who it suits

The improvement builds over the following days and weeks as the hydration takes hold. It generally lasts up to around six months, and Allergan reports hydration benefits up to nine months; a touch-up is sometimes needed, and your doctor will suggest a maintenance rhythm that suits your skin.

SKINVIVE suits dryness, dullness and a lack of glow, and works across skin tones. It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, for under 18s, or with certain conditions and allergies, which your doctor checks at consultation. It pairs well with Profhilo, polynucleotides and Hydrafacial as part of a wider plan.

Yes. It was previously known in the UK as JUVÉDERM VOLITE and has been rebranded and relaunched as SKINVIVE.

No. Both are hyaluronic acid, but filler is placed deeper to restore volume and shape, while SKINVIVE sits within the skin to improve its quality. It will not change the shape of your face.

Generally up to around six months, with hydration benefits reported up to nine months. A touch-up is sometimes needed, and your doctor will suggest a maintenance rhythm.

Numbing cream is applied first and SKINVIVE contains lidocaine, so most people find it very tolerable. You may feel a little stinging or pressure.

Small raised injection points, redness or bruising can be visible for a short time. Most people carry on as normal, avoiding heavy make-up, intense exercise and heat for the first day or so.

It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, for under 18s, or with untreated epilepsy, porphyria, a tendency to raised scarring or relevant allergies. Your doctor checks this at consultation.

Your doctor confirms the price at consultation, once your skin has been assessed and the treatment areas agreed.
