Sclerotherapy for Spider Veins: What to Expect During and After Treatment

Hello, my name is Dr Amina and I'm going to tell you a little bit more about sclerotherapy again today with a smile on my face as per some of my comments. So sclerotherapy is a simple medical procedure that I do here in clinic and the main purpose is to remove the unsightly blue and purple little varicose veins on the surface of your legs. I do this by injecting a small amount of sclerosing agent using a very very fine needle that you can hardly feel as I inject and the injecting agent is used to try to glue down the walls of the veins and by causing them to glue down and collapse I stop the blood flow entering them and over time that will remove the discoloration from the skin so you have a nice even skin tone.

Usually most people need a few treatments, it lasts about half an hour each time so we can make sure we can get all the veins and the feeding veins that enter into those varicose veins and spider veins. The downtime is very quick, you can get straight up and go back to working it back on with your day.
