Why Pigmentation Comes Back: Sun Damage, Melasma and the Treatments That Actually Work
Pigmentation has a habit of fading and then reappearing, especially as the weather warms up. Wellface senior therapist Simone breaks down the three main causes, why SPF is non-negotiable, and how advanced treatments like BBL and MOXI target both surface and deeper pigment for long-term, even-toned skin.

Hi, I'm Simone, the senior therapist at WellFace and let's talk about pigmentation. Pigmentation can come from many different causes. The number one cause of pigmentation is the sun, so UV damage on the skin.
Secondly, it can come from inflammation in the skin, so skin concerns like acne, which can cause post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. And also hormonal changes in the skin can cause pigmentation like melasma. Different types of pigmentation need different treatments, but your first port of call is skincare, using ingredients like topical vitamin A's, pigment suppressors and vitamin C, but non-negotiable is an SPF.
If you're not using an SPF, then you're fighting a complete losing battle. My most favourite treatment for pigmentation is a very advanced IPL. In clinic we have BBL and Moxie.
BBL being your advanced IPL and Moxie is a fractional laser. BBL is going to pull out all of that superficial pigmentation in the skin, and Moxie is going to go down and get that deeper, more dermal pigmentation in the skin, things like melasma, which we spoke about earlier. If you're experiencing any problems with pigmentation, guys, then please give us a call and come and book a skin consultation with us in clinic.
Thank you. Thank you.
