Bruxism treatment in Wimbledon

The tension London leaves in your jaw

Ask our Wimbledon doctors where modern London ends up and they will point to the jaw. Deadlines, commutes and screens have a way of settling into the grinding muscles, and by the time clients reach us, many have been clenching through their days and grinding through their nights for years. The treatment is refreshingly simple: two to three small injections that relax the overworked muscle, ease the tension and protect the teeth. The clinic is a short walk from Wimbledon station, and the whole appointment fits comfortably inside a lunch hour.

A jaw muscle injection during bruxism treatment at Wellface Wimbledon

Grinding by night, clenching by day

Bruxism is one of the most common conditions we treat, and it affects men and women alike. For some it is nocturnal, a partner hearing the grinding long before the grinder feels it. For others it is a daytime clench that tightens with concentration. Either way, the same thing happens underneath: the grinding muscles of the jaw are overworked until they become sore, headaches set in, and the muscle itself grows larger, gradually squaring the lower face and putting real wear on the teeth.

What the injections actually do

The treatment places a small dose of botulinum toxin, a prescription-only medication sourced exclusively from UK pharmacies, directly into the overworked grinding muscles. By gently reducing their activity, the injections relieve the grinding force at its source rather than masking the symptoms. Soreness eases, the teeth are protected from further wear, and with a course of treatments the appearance of an enlarged jaw muscle softens. Because the medicine is prescription-only, everything begins with a face-to-face consultation with one of our doctors.

A timeline you can plan around

The appointment takes 30 to 45 minutes, with the injections themselves done in five to fifteen. Effects appear within four to ten days, and most patients notice real relief within a week. Two weeks after treatment you return for a complimentary review, where your doctor checks the result and places a free top-up dose if required. From there, results last between three and five months, with regular treatment every three months keeping the symptoms from returning. Every step is bookable around a working diary.

More than a sore jaw

A clenched jaw rarely keeps its troubles to itself. Alongside grinding and clenching, our Wimbledon doctors use this treatment to address:

  • Jaw muscle pain and tension headaches
  • Tension spreading into the neck and shoulders
  • TMJ discomfort around the jaw joint
  • Ongoing wear and damage to the teeth
  • An enlarged, overworked jaw muscle
  • A squarer lower face, gradually softened

Doctor-led, and it matters here

Every treatment in Wimbledon is planned and placed by Dr Yasmin Tayeb, Dr Yosra Albeyatti or Dr Hannah Sunley. Dr Yosra leads the clinic and is known for precise, conservative dosing, which is exactly what this treatment demands. The masseter is a strong muscle with a proper job to do, and the aim is to quiet the grinding force while it carries on doing that job. Judging that balance is a medical decision, which is why the person holding the syringe here is always a doctor.

Worth doing before it gets worse

The right time to treat bruxism is whenever it starts affecting your days: morning headaches, jaw ache, a partner who hears the grinding at night, or a dentist noticing wear on your teeth. Left alone, the condition tends to compound, with muscle pain, neck and shoulder tension, a changing facial shape and dental damage all building slowly. Treated, most clients simply notice their mornings getting quieter within the first week. Few treatments on our menu return so much comfort for so little time in the chair.

Frequently asked questions

Appointments run 30 to 45 minutes, and the injections themselves take just five to fifteen. Most clients are back at their desk, or on the train home, within the hour.

Effects appear within four to ten days of treatment, and most patients notice real relief within a week: fewer headaches, less jaw ache and quieter nights.

Yes. The Wimbledon clinic is open until 8pm from Monday to Thursday, and until 5pm on Fridays and Saturdays, so treatment can follow the working day rather than interrupt it.

At 44 Wimbledon Hill Road, SW19 7PA, a short walk up the hill from Wimbledon station with its National Rail, District line and tram connections.

Yes. Each treatment is £450 and includes your initial consultation, a review appointment two weeks later and a free top-up dose at that review if it is required.

Always a doctor: Dr Yasmin Tayeb, Dr Yosra Albeyatti or Dr Hannah Sunley. The doctor who plans your dose is the doctor who places it and reviews it two weeks later.

Usually no more than mild tenderness, or the occasional small bruise where an injection was placed, both settling quickly. The injections themselves feel like a slight sting that passes in seconds.

Gradually, and usually for the better. Relaxing an enlarged grinding muscle can soften a square lower face over a course of treatments, a change many clients welcome as much as the relief itself.
