Sculptra in Wimbledon

Firmer skin, built while you get on with life

Busy people tend to want one of two things from aesthetics: a result they can see by Friday, or a result that keeps quietly developing without another thought. Sculptra® belongs firmly to the second camp. It is a collagen stimulator rather than a filler, so it adds nothing you can see on the day; it prompts your body to rebuild its own collagen over the weeks and months that follow. For SW19 clients juggling trains, meetings and family diaries, that is rather the appeal: a short series of well-planned appointments, a clinic near the station, and a change nobody can quite date.

A vial of Sculptra by Galderma

The precision is in the plan

Sculptra works across areas rather than at single points, so precision here means planning, not millimetres. Your doctor assesses where volume and firmness have softened, how your face sits at rest, and how much substance your skin has lost, then decides how many vials you need and how they should be spread across sessions. That plan is set out and costed before anything is placed: £500 per vial, with additional vials discounted from the fourth vial onwards. For people who like to know exactly what they are committing to, there is no guesswork at the desk.

What PLLA does, in plain terms

Sculptra is poly-L-lactic acid, or PLLA, made by Galderma. It is biodegradable, and once placed it prompts your body to lay down fresh collagen gradually over the following weeks and months. Because it is not hyaluronic acid, it behaves nothing like the fillers most people know: it adds no instant volume, and it cannot be dissolved the way hyaluronic acid filler can. Any early fullness is fluid and swelling that settles. What follows, for suitable patients, is the slower change: firmness and skin thickness that can improve as your own collagen builds.

Fitting a course into a working diary

Galderma describes a typical course as around three sessions spaced over several months, and at Wellface your doctor personalises both the sessions and the vials. Each appointment takes about 45 minutes, which makes a late-afternoon slot or an evening visit entirely realistic, with the diary open until 8pm from Monday to Thursday. Because the change is gradual, there is no single reveal to schedule your life around. Swelling, tenderness, bruising, redness or itching can occur after treatment, so a quiet evening afterwards is a sensible plan rather than a dinner out.

The five, five, five routine

If your doctor advises it, you may be given a short massage routine to follow at home, commonly five minutes, five times a day, for five days. It fits easily around a commute or a desk: a few minutes in the morning, one at lunch, another on the train home. Alongside it, avoid excessive sun exposure while redness and swelling settle. Lumps or nodules can occur later with Sculptra, which is one reason your review appointment matters, and why aftercare is talked through properly before you leave the clinic.

Who it suits, and who it does not

Sculptra suits people who want gradual, diffuse improvement: facial volume that has softened over time, firmness that has slipped, skin that has lost some of its thickness. It particularly suits the client who wants colleagues to say they look well without being able to say why. It is not a lip treatment, and it is not designed for an instant result before an event next week. If your timeline is short or your concern is one precise feature, a hyaluronic acid filler may serve you better, and your doctor will say so plainly.

Doctors in SW19, from plan to review

Every Sculptra treatment in Wimbledon is performed by one of our doctors: Dr Yasmin Tayeb, Dr Yosra Albeyatti or Dr Hannah Sunley. The same doctor holds your consultation, places each session and sees you at your included review, so the course is steered by one clinical judgement rather than a rota. That continuity matters more than usual with a treatment that unfolds slowly. Results can last around two years, with individual variation, and Galderma’s studies followed patients for about 25 months. A long-horizon treatment deserves a doctor who is still there at the end of it.

The science of Sculptra

Your own collagen, rebuilt

Sculptra is a regenerative biostimulator made by Galderma. Instead of filling a line, its poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) microparticles prompt your skin to rebuild its own collagen and elastin, working across all three layers of the skin. Here is how a course at Wellface Wimbledon works on your skin.

01

Placed

Your doctor places PLLA microparticles in the deeper layers of the skin, exactly where your plan needs support.

02

Recognised

Your skin answers with a gentle, controlled renewal response and fibroblasts begin making new collagen.

03

Rebuilt

Galderma’s studies show type I collagen up by 66.5% at three months, with elastin stimulated too.

04

Renewed

The PLLA is absorbed naturally over the following months, leaving your own firmer tissue in place.

Why skin changes

From our twenties collagen falls by around 1% a year. The surface thins, the dermis loses firmness and elasticity, and the deepest layer loses the support that holds volume.

A proven material

PLLA has been used in medicine since the 1960s and in dissolvable stitches since the 1970s. Sculptra was first approved in Europe in 1999 and is used in more than 40 countries.

Two years on

Galderma reports results lasting more than two years. In its survey two years after treatment, 89% of patients said their results looked natural and 92% felt more confident.

Frequently asked questions

Not in the usual sense. Sculptra® is poly-L-lactic acid, a biodegradable collagen stimulator made by Galderma. It adds no instant volume; instead it prompts your body to build its own collagen gradually, which is why the result develops over months.

£500 per vial, including VAT, the same as at our other clinics. The number of vials is planned with your doctor at consultation, and from the fourth vial onwards additional vials are discounted.

About 45 minutes. New clients start with a consultation, and if Sculptra is suitable the treatment may sometimes go ahead the same day. Your doctor will confirm that once your plan is agreed.

Yes. The Wimbledon clinic is open until 8pm from Monday to Thursday, and until 5pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Evening slots are popular, so booking ahead is sensible, and our concierge team can help find a time.

Both stimulate your own collagen, but they work differently. HArmonyCa includes hyaluronic acid for an immediate lift and generally does not need the strict at-home massage routine some stimulators do. Sculptra adds no instant volume and builds gradually. Your doctor will advise which suits your face.

Results can last around two years, with individual variation. Galderma’s studies followed patients for about 25 months. Your doctor will talk through what that means for your own course, and when a review or further session makes sense.

Swelling, tenderness, bruising, redness and itching can occur after treatment, and lumps or nodules can occur later, which your review is there to check. Rare vascular complications are possible with any facial injectable, and our doctors follow established emergency protocols.

We are at 44 Wimbledon Hill Road, SW19 7PA, a short walk up the hill from Wimbledon station with its National Rail, District line and tram connections. Southfields, Raynes Park and Putney are all an easy journey.
