Choosing the Right Vitamin C Serum for Your Skin (and Why the Highest Percentage Isn't Always Best)
Reaching for the strongest vitamin C serum on the shelf feels sensible, but the right percentage depends on your skin type and the season, not on the biggest number. Here Dr Yasmin Tayeb explains how she matches patients to a 10%, 15% or 20% formula, and why many people benefit from stepping down a level once the heating goes on.

So the products that you use on your skin massively affect the way your skin health is especially when you're using medical grade products you know you're paying a lot of money for these products so you want to make sure you're getting the correct vitamin or the correct serum that's appropriate for your skin and that even comes down to your vitamin C serum so with Obagi we have vitamin C 10% 15% and 20% lots of patients come in saying I want the 20% I want the highest percentage but it really doesn't work that way it really is dependent on your skin quality and your skin type and if you're more oily or if you're more dry or if you're more acne prone so in the winter seasons when patients skin is a little bit dry and more dehydrated I usually like to go down a level so we might move from a 20% vitamin C serum to a 15% vitamin C serum and if you're an acne prone patient and your skin does have that tendency to be a little bit drier then I would move you down to a 10% vitamin C serum maybe just for the winter months and then as we come back into spring and it gets a bit hotter and we turn the heating down then we bring you back up to a higher level of vitamin C serum so please do speak to your practitioner send me a DM we can send all the products directly to you or you're welcome to pick them up from clinic as well you you
