Skin in Your 50s: Understanding Menopause and Hormonal Skin
Around menopause, many women feel their skin changed almost overnight: drier, thinner and less firm. Here's the biology behind hormonal skin changes, why collagen drops so quickly, and how a staged plan of hydration and collagen-building treatments at Wellface rebuilds a strong, healthy canvas without looking overdone.

Patients in their 50s are suffering with dehydration. Their skin feels really dry. They don't feel like they're in control of their skin and what's happening to their face.
They feel like they woke up one day in the mirror and their face just fell down and it feels really immediate. Their hair feels dry. It feels brittle.
There are so many changes and because they don't feel in control of it, it really hits their confidence very, very hard. And so navigating patients in their 50s is about education as a really good quality assessment and really building that confidence back in the patient, not just in terms of what treatments we do and the confidence that those treatments are going to deliver because they might take a little bit more time to land on target, but also that you can go back to feeling comfortable, seeing the right person, that same person that you see yourself in the mirror and knowing who you are again. So patients in their 50s, usually they've gone through menopause or they're still in that menopausal journey and it's something to be taken really seriously.
It's definitely something about putting back that hydration in the skin and that repair in the skin. And then you don't want to lose out on that good quality collagen. That collagen has dropped very, very quickly.
That elastin has dropped very quickly. And so the skin is feeling really thin. We want to put that collagen and that strength back in the skin, get a really good canvas and then build upon that.
And it happens through stages. Patients who come to me in their 50s, it's not a one quick treatment plan. If you want to have really good results at WellFace, we need to do it in a really nice systematic manner and you will get the most beautiful results in a timely manner and still look natural.
Mm hmm.
