Can Skincare Do It All? Dr Yasmin Tayeb on Where Products End and Treatments Begin
Medical-grade skincare protects, repairs and keeps skin healthy, but it cannot reverse volume loss, deep lines or old acne scarring on its own. Wellface founder Dr Yasmin Tayeb explains where skincare shines, where in-clinic treatments take over, and why the two work best together for long-term results.

Can your skincare solve all your problems? I would love to say that it could, but guys, unfortunately, the answer is no. Otherwise, this industry wouldn't be alive and kicking and we wouldn't be here.
Skincare has a huge place in your skin health, in the way that you age, in the way that the skin is glowing. And it keeps that confidence really nice and strong for our patients when their skin feels comfortable, looks healthy and is all the appropriate colors without too much blemishes and is smooth and the texture is right. But even though we absolutely love our retinoids, our tretinoins, for those patients who have pigmentation, the hydroquinone treatments, which is prescription based, even though we love those treatments, it cannot solve all the problems.
It cannot solve volume loss. It cannot solve problems where the tear trough is really full or the crepiness under the eye is too crepied and the skin quality and the texture isn't good enough. It cannot reverse all of that acne and acne scarring and acne pigmentation that you might have had 10, 20 or 30 years ago.
If it's there and it's deep, we definitely need to do good quality skincare and something else along with it. So, yes, we absolutely love our skincare. You've seen my cupboards.
They are fully stocked up with three different brands that we absolutely love. But, like with all things, it's those combination treatments that are going to give you the best results and most importantly, the results that you are looking for.
